Brief Description:  Battery mount (cont)

After completing the inboard tray attachment angle completed, I noticed that the countersunk hole for the rear battery angle support would fall in a good location to use as an additional attachment point for both the inboard angle and the rear angle. I decided to use an AN3 (10-32) bolt in exchange for the countersunk 8-32 screw currently in that location.

I decided to mark the location by making a transfer screw. I put an 8-32 screw into my Dewalt drill and started it spinning and used the belt sander to remove the head and then produce a point in order to insert it in the current hole and transfer that location to the inboard angle. After inserting the screw into the location I made sure it was just high enough to transfer into the inboard angle.
Next I aligned the angle into the correct location with the bolts. I placed a scrap piece of aluminum on the inboard angle and gave it a tap with a hammer. Voila.....it transferred beautifully.

Next I removed the rear block from the tubing and located the hole precisely and drilled and tapped it for a 10-32 heli-coil. All matched up for another successful operation.
