Brief Description:  Advance AOA System Installation

Installed the ports for the Advance Angle of Attack indicator. I decided to go with the Advance for a couple of reasons. First, the QB kit I bought had a Falcon heated pitot tube that had already been installed on the wing. Secondly, I wanted a separate AOA display that I can mount on the dash or someplace more in line of sight. If you get the AOA's that use the electronic flight displays to display AOA data....you have to look in the dash of the aircraft out of site. I am going to mount my such that I won't have to look down to see the AOA status. We will see what I come up with.

Anyway, it was pretty simple installation. I measured and rechecked the measurements several times to make sure that they were right. Then drilled the screw holes on top and bottom ports. I used the low profile bottom port holes as a jig to drill the holes. Worked great. Then I dimpled the skins using pop rivet gun dies. All I had was -3 rivet die so the screws sit just a bit proud. I may order a -4 die and ust it to finish the dimple...will see.

Next I drilled the .040 holes in the center of the port area in order to pick up the AOA readings. The final step was to drill a hole on the bottom wing for the drain tool in order drain the upper port in the event of any moisture gathers in the system lines.
