Brief Description: Bad work session - damage rudder skin
Went down stairs tonight for a work session. I wanted to rivet the stiffners to the rudder skin. Was going well until I failed to realize the rivet I was bucking was off the backriveting plate. When I pulled the rivet gun trigger....that was all she wrote. It just took a second for me to realize what I had done...and what the consequenceses were. I tried to straighten the skin bulge but there is a crease as you can see in the photos. There is a lot of "oil canning" that is taking place in that area. The rib also bent. There is no doubt that the oil canning will result in a crack on the crease in short order. Better to just order a new one and end the potential disaster later. Ordering another skin tomorrow.
