Brief Description:  Circuit Breaker Panel Labels

When trying to figure out how I was going to mark the circuit breakers, switches and other things on the panel I asked my friend Rob. He suggested using water transfer decals like we used for model airplanes. You can buy the sheets that fit into an inkjet printer and print whatever labels you want. I bought the labels on Amazon. I sat down and played with the best way to do the labels, the font, font size, etc. Things got to the point of getting in the ballpark of where I needed to be.

I started with the circuit breaker panel. I decided I wanted to color code the three busses on the CB panel. I also decided to "box" the lettering. To some it may be a little non traditional but I liked the look. So I took the decal sheet and ran it through the printer.

The process is fairly simple. Print the labels on the sheet, then coat them with about three coates of clear sealer. Then I cut and trim the labels. Next simply dip them in a tub of water and slide them off onto the panel. I actually used the computer to space the labels for the CB panel and slid all four labels as one decal. I mainly used facial tissues to dab up the water and get the decal patted down.

I got all the labels situated and set the panel aside to dry overnight.
