Brief Description:  GIB Lighting and USB Charger #3

Today I was able to finish the panel. I got the holes drilled, countersunk, and nutplates riveted. I got the center bracket riveted in for the screw in the top edge center.

I did not put the panel all the way down to the bottom brace because I am thinking of making a fabric pouch there for the section below and need the brace to potentially put a fabric cover with velcro or something to have a flap......not sure at this point but needed the brace. The bottom flexed more than I liked. I have some stiffiners that I didn't use from rebuilding my crunched elevator. I used one of the stiffiners and cut it down to length and cut the perpendicular angle to have only about 1/4 inch left. I drilled and riveted it to the bottom and now it is nice and solid.

Next I made a hole for the rheostat on the right bulkhead easily reachable but out of the way. The rheostat has a 1/4 inch hole with two #38 holes cut on a 1/2 inch circle around the switch to accept two lugs to keep it from turning. I made a jig to get the holes where they needed to be.

I also cut the hole for the removable gooseneck in the side panel and tried it on.....it will work great for the GIB. I will take it out and store it and it will only be inserted when needed by GIB.
