Brief Description:  Engine Baffles & Snorkle

I was in the shop first thing in the morning to work the baffles as Rob texted me yesterday and said he would be free to come over and give assistance on the build.

Rob arrived mid-day and after a short discussion we decided it would be best to tackle the snorkle which was good with me! Rob has done the snorkle on his RV8 & RV7 builds which really helps for the knowledge base.....but the truth of the matter is every install has its own individual challenges to work through....so it was good to have Robs experience to assist in the endeavor.

We started by getting the spacing of the snorkle and starter where we wanted it and clamped and drilled the holes as well as marked the sides to cut the round fiberglass flange to match the square fuel servo. I made a great little bushing to drill the holes for the fuel servo with a smaller drill so as not to mess up the threads in the servo. Only two holes can be drilled so we took the two holes and the cut lines on the fglass and lined the gasket up and marked the other two holes.

Rob and I then had a discussion on where to cut the snorkle....and as it is some times we had a different opinion of where to make the cut. This actually works good when Rob and I work together....many times one of us will make a remark of how to do something and then the other chimes in and as we joust with each other we come up with a solution

We cut the snorkle....cut the top for the filter.....got the snorkle brackets on and we were both amazed at how close the two cut ends of the snorkle aligned. Rob left and I continued to work the snorkle and get it where it needed to he......I laid down some glass and left the snorkle to cure!

Great day of progress......Thanks Rob!!!
