Brief Description:  Snorkle-Left Inlet Ramp-Cowl Inlets

Tonight I took the nylon plug I made to reshape the forward corners of the snorkle where I cut out the material and got the fiberglass materials together. I inserted the plug and clamped it in place. I then mixed up some flox (epoxy resin and milled cotton fibers) and mixed a fairly dry batch. I wasn't absolutely sure the epoxy wouldn't stick to the nylon plug....so just to make sure I placed a layer of packing tape over it.

After getting the plug in place and clamped I laid flox over the corners to cover them on the outside of the snorkle. I let them sit for a little bit to let the flox set up just a little more. I then cut and wet two pieces of fiberglass and wrapped them around the corners and placed peel ply on them and set the snorkle aside to cure.

I went out onto the shop and decided it was time to debur the new left inlet ramp. Two things I noticed on the new part.....there was no blue plastic, and the edges were VERY NICE without any of those "nubs" that are produced from the machines that cut the panels out. It almost looks like they may have been laser cut or they got a new punching machine that really works well! Anyway it still took some time to get processed. Then I took the prototype plate and installed it to get an idea for rough cutting the new onw.

Finally I worked on trimming the cowl inlets for the lower cowl. A good work session!
