Brief Description:  Baffles

I went to work the baffling again. The baffling is a very tedious and slow process to get it close without messing up the panels and cutting them too much. Vans instructions call for having "patience"! That really describes the process.

I tried the paperclip method but really there was too much to take off so I used the cut some off here and there method. As I methodically chewed away at the panels they got to the place where another paper clip session was warrented. Using the clips was semi-helpful....still more cuts to be made.

My buddy Rob had mentioned to me and sent me a couple photos of his method. He used wood blocks to establish a 4 inch gap between the cowling halves and then runs a Sharpie ultra fine marker in a wood tracer to mark the panels closer to finish cut. I used the method only I used some scrap aluminum to hold the cowls in place along with spacers to keep the gap at 4 inches. With the spacers making the 4 inch gap I drilled and clecoed the standoffs using the cowl hinge holes to hold the standoffs. With all that installed I made a wooden tracing block to use the Sharpie. I was able to reach in the cowling and trace fairly well the contour of the cowling on the baffles. It wasn't perfect but at least it would get me close!

The weather got warm enough to get out and do some sanding on my canopy skirt since it makes a boatload of dust so I spent time getting the left side done.....now the right side needs goop and sanding.
