Brief Description:  Baffle, Oil Cooler, & Misc

Once again the shop has gotten out of control with clutter so I spent almost a couple hours getting things put together. In the basement I cleared off the work bench and got the canopy in place in order to get working on the canopy fairing. Had a consult with fiberglass specialist Rick to gain some tech support on attacking the process for getting the fairing up to snuff.

I am working on an an adapter for the the oil cooler. The four inch duct that comes from the baffle is located such that the 4" duct partially blocks the oil tube and dipstick. You would still be able to access it but I don't like the overall setup. So I am pondering using a 3" duct from the back of the baffle and then enlarge it to a 4" duct further down towards the oil cooler. It actually could act as a venturi and both speed and cool the air prior to hitting the oil cooler as the smaller hose feeds into the larger one. Anyway....we will see how it works.

Had Rob come over last night for a while in order to give me some tech advice on the snorkle. He and I used a little heat to modify the snorkle in a couple spots in order to get clearance from the B&C starter nose which worked pretty well. The snorkle still needs to move inboard somewhat so the snorkle will need to be cut. Since Rob has done the snorkle in his RV7 his insight was invaluable for continuing forward. I ordered a new CB-1002A baffle as the ramp must be longer with the snorkle and the 1" excess I left for further trimming may not be enough. So since everything is taking much longer to get I ordered one from Vans....it already shipped!
