Brief Description:  Routing COAX

Today was spent routing and clamping coax cables for antennas. I ran the coax for the GPS antenna that sits on the turtledeck. I got the clamps installed with the canopy slide rail screws. This should really work great....it keeps the cable out of the way and out of sight mostly. I am glad for the way it turned out. All I have to do is make the TNC connection.

I pulled the cable for the transponder to its location next and routed it through the left gear tower. All that needs to be done on that is the connectors on each end.

Finally I started routing the VOR/ILS/LOC antenna coax that goes all the way to the tail section. I pondered for a bit on the routing. I was going to run it along the left side also but the coax would probably barely make it....so I decided to run it down the right side of the fuselage since it will connect to the GNS 650 located on the right side. I ordered more coax today in order to have some for the two Comm antennas. I would have had enough but didn't know where I would be installing my GPS antenna.....it took quite a bit of coax. At least the runs for the Comm antennas are shorter and easier to get to than twisting this old body in the tailcone of an RV-8!

Prior to starting the routing of the VOR/ILS/LOC antenna coax I put the connector on the cable because I didn't want to try to do that in the tailcone section. I watched Steins video and then did my first one....came out great with NO shorts in the connector. BTW Stein uses wrong cut measurements on the video....use the BNC print that he has for download.....those are correct!
