Brief Description:  Glass the Rivets

I wanted to get some work done on the canopy so I gathered the materials to put fiberglass over the rivet holes. Rick had mentioned to me some time ago about getting some 3/4 oz fiberglass to lay over the rivet holes. This fiberglass is something mainly used in model airplanes but works great for things like covering rivet holes on REAL airplanes he stated.

So I wanted to get the fglass laid on the canopy and start working that on the side while continuing the main project.

This thin fiberglass is kind of tough to work with as static electricity and handling the material was a bit of a chore since it is so thin. I cut out about 1" strips and precut them for the locations on the canopy. The static caused them to stick to the canopy as I was cutting them.....so I decided to dimply leave them on the canopy to wet them in place. I didn't even try to lay them out and wet them first with epoxy because I think it would have been almost impossible to do with the thin material. Using a brush I went along and spread the epoxy. It worked very well. Later in the day I checked and several holes needed to be covered again so I did so.

I also had a texting conference with RIck and Rob that are part of my BBT...Building Brain Trust about my oil cooler hose. It's great to have the critique/questions of other folks which caused me to re-evaluate the adapter.....more to come!

Needed a break and as it was a beautiful day I decided to take a flight with Robs RV7 to reset the mental breakers.
