Brief Description:  Flight to SFZ to pick up my brother Rons urn

My brother passed away last June after an illness. He was cremated and my mom had the ashes at her house. I am getting the paperwork together to put his remains in the National Cemetary in Massachusetts or Rhode Island as he lived in Newport RI and lived his life in the area.

My mother asked me to pick up the urn sooner than later. It is a 9-10 hour drive to her place with traffic. I asked a buddy on the field near me if he was up to the trip if I pay the fuel. He answered immediately that he was up for it. So we looked and waited for a weekend with good wx on a Saturday or Sunday. Saturday October 31st Holloween was the day. It dawned clear and cold. Rob and I wanted an early departure to do the round trip.

We departed at sunrise and it was calm and beautiful. Rob and I discussed the flight the night before because of all the presidential TFR's that literally blocked the pathway. We would be going early enough that they would not be active but the times kept changing so we wove a flight path that would keep us clear of them in case of a change in the times that put us in them.

Rob flew the way up and I took radios and nav duties. After skirting beneath the outer ring of IAD Class B airspace we climed to 7,500'. By Hagarstown MD we had to decide to fly VFR on Top or go beneath....we elected on top. We flew that way for around an hour when the undercast gave way to clear below. With a very slight tailwind the flight was in the 2.5 hour range.
