Well......I finally did it. Went to the homebuilders aviation mecca....OSHKOSH! My work schedule will not allow me to go next year so I decided to go up for four days to check it out. I planned and met up with my buddy Jim and his friend Don (actually Jim prodded me to go up this year...it didn't take too much prodding). Anyway Jim and Don (Orville and Wilber) flew up in a C-172. Thought I had a plane available I was concerned of storms and damage....so I decided to fly Delta up and get a rental. It really worked out great.
The long and short of it is that we got to meet some great people from the VAF forum and got to look at some really great planes and exhibitors stuff for the build! I went to a couple forums and workshops. There is plenty to do there! Kathryn was going to come....but with all the plans and time off for wedding number two it worked out better that she didn't come. We will probably be going up in a couple years.....TOGETHER! Yeah baby!!!
Image 3 is exactly the dream panel that I am looking for! It is a Garmin glass panel in a guy name John Thocker. It has two displays, a G650 GNS for navigating and flying IFR, and autopilot remote panel, and a remote radio and transponder.....SWEEEEEEEET!!! It will be a while before I am ready to get the avionics.....so I will hold on to my hat and see what other kind of bells and whistles come along at that time....but if they designed nothing more....I would be well pleased!!!
