Brief Description:  Another Baffle Session

Saturday....always hopeful to get a good work session in for getting some project progress.

With the baffles mostly in place Ralph said he would come over and give me assistance with starting to cut the baffling to fit the cowling. Doing so is another slow process and since it has been years since Ralph had done it and I have never done it.....we slowly and carefully walked through the process.

We worked on the left cowl inlet baffle ramp and got it in place. We then started the process of trimming the ramps a bit in order to get rid of the excess material that Vans gives you to not short change you as each airplane can be a bit different.

With that done we began working on fitting the baffles to the top cowl. Once again....a very slow and tedious process. We put the cowl on and off many times. My left side baffle that has the stiffiner where the oil cooler would be mounted (mine is not mounted there) needed several cuts as it continued to interfere with the top cowl coming low enough. But once again....you don't want to take big cuts and find you cut too much!

We got to the place where we used the paper clips around the vertical baffling and set the cowling in place and marked lines for referencing the next cut. By the end of the day we got the baffles close.....but there is still more to go until we are there!!

Thanks again to Ralph.....two people doing this is FAR easier than doing it solo!
