Back in the shop tonight I figured I would get the final trimming of the cowl marked to get the gaps between the horizontal sides and the firewall seams done. A friend Rick contacted the owner of the paint shop where he had his airplane painted and inquired what amount of gap should be between the seams and the fuselage. The painter suggested a minimum of 1/16 inch.
So using my scale I placed marks between all the seams of the horizontal lines between the top and bottom cowl and the cowl and firewall. After marking all the edges I used the fine Sharpie to connect the dots. I marked the cowl such that once the blue line is removed the cowl should be right where it needs to be!
