Brief Description:  Begin Cutting Bottom Cowl

With the top cowl ready and sitting in place on the airplane I was set to start the bottom cowl. I had to do some errands and while at the post office I received a call from Rob....he said it was a bit windy for flying and he wanted to wait till a little later when the winds died down....and he said he wanted to stop over and look at how the project is going.

Well I had just gotten into the shop for a bit when he came. The visit turned into a nice afternoon of help with experience in building 2 Vans aircraft.....an RV-8 and RV-7 as well as helping myriad others in the process and with the bottom cowl the help is much appreciated.

I had already spoke to Rick about the cowling process and he assisted with intell of the process when I started attacking this part of the build and several other times. The top was complete but Rob suggested putting a couple pilot plugs in the Skybolt holes to lock in the back edge of the top cowl.

The rest of the afternoon involved cutting,,,,,sanding....putting the cowl on.....drawing lines and cutting again....sanding again.....trying it on again....etc etc. By the end of the session the bottom cowl was mostly done with one more cut and a little sanding which I was able to finish myself! Thanks again to Rob for all his assistance....especially when I didn't expect it to come!
