Brief Description:  Right Switching Console & Starter Light (cont)

By the end of the session I had everything connected except the two ignition switches. The reason is they are "looped" wires so we can cut them where they need to be when getting them into the engine compartment. They go through the left side so those will be cut shorter so the other ignition can reach to the far right side. I could hook them up but will just wait until we get the engine on in the near future to do so and do them once....due to labeling and dealing with the screws that can drop all over the place.

I then finished off this good work session with installing a fusible link into the wire for the "starter engaged" light. There is no fuse or CB in the wire because it gets the power off the starter contactor only when the starter is engaged....so even though it is a small led light it needs to be protected. Once again I told Ralph that I had an inline fuse holder but was thinking of using a fusible link to protect the wire......he absolutely concurred with the idea.

A fusible link is a small 24AWG wire that is smaller than the wire going to the light with a fiberglass sheath around it that if an overvoltage event occurs it will burn up the small wire which is protected in the fiberglass sheath and will open the circuit just like a fuse or CB. I installed it because I have plenty of fusible link remaining in stock and it is less bulky and chances are will never have an issue with the small light.

Fusible link installed and another item checked off!
