We have a local event at our airport every year put on by an organization called Women Can Fly. The purpose it so get more women interested and involved in aviation. Free flights are offered to get women and young ladies interested in perhaps taking up flying and even fostering an interest in making it a professional career choice.
Anyway, Sarah is the event coordinator for our airport. I never had an airplane to take ladies up for a ride so I was never really involved. This year I was asked by Sarah to help in an area called Women can Build about building Experimental / Amatuer Aircraft. So I agreed to assist the bossman of that portion of the event Ralph. He designed a project that involved bending, drilling, dimpling, and riveting a cell phone holder out of aluminum as the project so women can see that the building skills are easily attainable.
Long story short is we had a VERY BUSY twelve hour day at the airport and assisted in building a whole lot of cell phone stands with women and young ladies. It was a fun and fulfilling day to hang around the airport environment!
I have some pictures below and on the next log....many cudos to Sarah and Ralph!!!
