Brief Description:  Smoke Tank Install (cont)

With all the parts completed for the rear tank hold down I did some final fitting. Since the nutplates were drilled via scale and punch there were slight variations in the distancing which is why I slotted the hold down holes. They all went on great without pulling and trying to buckle the panel.

I then worked on the front holes by the baggage door area which were a little more of a challenge. I wish I had transfer screws for 10-32 threads but don't. So I checked out that I had a transfer punch that fit very well. I set the tank in place and got everything located then clamped the panel to the tank hold down angle. I drilled two holes and the removed the clamps and drilled the clearance holes in the tank hold down angle. I put the screws into the two holes and went through the process of drilling all the holes. I opened the holes up to the max I felt I should in order to keep any binding of the screws against the panel to keep it all straight. I got everything deburred and clearanced and tried the tank and panel in place.....result is great!! Now to run the lines and manifold stuff.......

Well I have broken the 3000 hour landmark. I look at that number and wonder how everyone tracks and logs their time. I put the time down on the log sheet and will sign in and out for breaks or when ending sessions. I really wanted to get an idea of how long it took me to finish this project so I don't want to skew the numbers either way. Well for what it is that is what I have recorded thus far. The hours are not the issue.....getting the project done is!!!
