Brief Description:  Smoke Tank Installation

I have had a coupld iterations of designs to secure the backside of the tank in place in the baggage compartment. The only requirement is that the tank flange would "slip in place" in order to not have to try to reach around without having to install any hardware to hold it in place. I kept pondering various designs and settled on using .250 stock and machining it so it would hold down the .135 thick angle with a slip fit and two tabs on the front and back to keep the angle in place from foward to rear movement. The bracket would be bolted and secured in place and the flange would simply slip in and be captured, then the screws on the outside would be installed and keep everything in place.

After working with pencil and ruler I got a design I liked and went out in the shop and began to make chips cutting and putting slotted holes.

With that complete I needed to modify the angle on the tank by removing 3/8 inch off. I love it when I can just throw something in the mill and do it the easy way.....but that wasn't going to work so it was dremmel and files since my small band saw would not be able to do it either. So I got it to that point and will do the fine fitting to the panel next session.....so far so good!
