Brief Description:  Trimmed and flox wing tips

The weather has been exceptionally warm lately so I decided it would be good to set up outside to cut the trailing edges on the wing tips. I already had them marked so I headed out and set up the work area.

The right wing tip had a little more material to take off then the left so I started with the right one. I used my handy reciprocal saw and was able to cut the tip close to the cut line.....those saws work great for fiberglass work. Next I took my belt sander and ran it down the trailing edge being mindful of the blue cut line. Finally I used my fiberglass permagrit sanding blocks to run down the back edge and round the trailing edge.

I then set up the left wing tip. Since it had less to remove I elected to just use the belt sander to remove the material which worked great and quickly. I then went back to the permagrit sanding blocks to finish it off.

Even though I filled the inside back of the trailing edges, the factory places some fiberglass cloth strips on the inside of the trailing edges, Since I didn't have to cut a lot off the tips there were cavities in the trailing edges that resulted. So taking my dremmel tool and several wheels and carbide burrs I cleaned out the material where needed. I then mixed flox and filled the areas and set the tips up to allow the flox to dry. All in all a productive day!
