Brief Description:  Conduit and Antenna positioning

I did a little more work on the conduits to try to get them situated where I needed them to go.

I then worked on getting the positions for the antennas and doublers in place. I wanted to make sure I could get them as perpendicular to the spar center section as possible to try and mitigate any yaw that may be caused by the antennas. Of course the Comm antennas would have minimal effect but I wanted to get them straight nonetheless.

I used a small carpenters square and took my scale off the precision square and set the groove on the carpenter square and held it in place with two strong magnets. I worked great as it cleared the rivets and I was able to run a marker down the scale to get the line on the bottom skin inside the fuselage to reference the doubler perpendicular and thus get the antennas as straight as possible.

I want to be able to get to the connector and attachment screws so I put the doubler right behind the area where the GIB footwells panel attaches. I began to use the antenna to approximate where it would sit on the belly....before commiting to the location I will confer with a friend Rick to get his opinion. A lot of guys put the antennas right up to the spar....but I don't like that location, I want it to set back a bit further.

Another consideration is to have the antennas as far apart as possible due to the "transmit arpatures" of each other can cause interference. So the narrow fuselage of the RV8 only allows so much seperation so I will try to get them as far as I can from side to side and that's about all you can do. It seems to work fine.
