My thought was to make a wedge to tilt the ELT antenna back towards the bulkhead where I intend to mount it on the right arm rest of the GIB. This is where a number of RV8 builders mount theirs and I never had a problem with Ricks in Twitter getting in the way.
So because the back seat bulkhead is NOT perpendicular to the armrest I did a little measuring and came up with a dual wedge that I hope will work to attach the antenna. I machined a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum and drilled the BNC connector clearance hole and cut the pieces into individual wedges. After deburring I set them in place in the clearance hole of the armrest. The angle looks good but I think the problem will be the wedges will be too thick to allow the nut and washer to have enough threads to engage with enough thread coming through.....not sure I will look at it in the next session.
Another month ended....total this year is 390.2 average of about 49 hours a month....gotta try to step up my game more to get this project done!!!
