Brief Description: GIB LEMO, Light, and A/P Disconnect
While gone for the last few days the things I ordered came in.....some AMP connectors, Adel clamps, and a few other misc items. I ordered a new socket for the GIB LEMO because though fine to use it was a little momicked up even before I struggled to get the pins removed to route the bundle. So I prepped the wire and installed the cable clamp and the new socket. I inserted the pins to their locations and double checked them and then set them into their sockets with the D-sub tool. The large AMP connector in pic 3 will be used for the PIC control stick switches.
I worked on the switch guard for the A/P disconnect switch for the back. I modified it and bent a small flange with a hole for securing the guard with copper safety wire. I routed and connected the toggle switch for disconnecting the A/P. The switch is spring loaded to open and will be able to cycle the switch to disconnect the A/P. I felt this was the best way to deal with an incapacitated pilot in the front seat for the GIB to disconnect the A/P. Since the autopilot cannot be effectively manipulated from the back seat I felt that for it to be turned off was better than someone trying to overpower the autopilot and causing the trim to fight against the control inputs which can produce a bad situation very quickly......the chances may be better for whoever is in back to hand fly the plane.
I worked on getting the GIB light in place but I have to clean up some of the wiring and get it secured so I have to work on that a bit more before installing the panel.
