Brief Description:  PIC Music Jack / GIB LEMO / GIB A/P Disconnect

I got some time in today for the project. I worked on locating where I wanted to install the music jack for the PIC position and settled on just above the headset jacks.

Once again the music jack has two flat sides and radius on two ends like the LEMOs. The only problem is thay are quite a bit smaller. So I drilled a 1/4 inch hole and worked with files to get it where it would fit so the anti-rotation properties would engage so the nut could be tightened properly. After a while I finally got it to fit.....it wasn't perfect as it was a challenge to work in the location and get it "just right". It came out ok.

Next I routed the wire using a piece of safety wire and a washer threaded through the hole in the back of the jack to pull the jack into position due to having little room to get my hand in the tower. That worked real good! Once I got the jack into position I had to rotate it to get the flats on top and bottom to get the anti-rotation part of the housing into position. That presented another challenge and a while to work using long screwdriver and other tools I finally got it into the slots and was able to secure it all the way with the nut.

Next I worked for a while to figure out routing the GIB LEMO and music jack. Because it has a 1" diameter AMP connector I felt that I may be able to feed it from the bottom of the tower...the crux of it is that the cable won't be long enough. Even if it was I am not going to put any 1" holes through bulkheads to get it where I need it to go....so it looks like I will have to remove the connector to route the wires. I have to buy a pin remover.

I moved on to the GIB A/P connector. I separated the single wire from the bundle for the copilot stick. I want the switch guarded, not on the stick where it would be inadvertantly touched by the GIB. I have a momentary guarded switch that will be mounted to the side wall for that. I did some planning for the switch and wiring before calling it a night.
