It was more searching for a home for my Advanced AOA box since it was pushed out of its home by the GEA24 bully!
I looked at several locations......the baggage compartment access door.....the right side of the instrument panel area.....potentially modifying the GEA 24 location again....but when it was all said and done I settled on the left side of the rear baggage bulkhead and after settling on that decision I went to work on getting it installed.
The brackets wouldn't work in their current state so I began to mark them up and modify them and conform them for their new location. Due to the avionics access door rivets I had to make the brackets so the unit would be moved away from the bulkhead wall. I took them to the shop and slotted the bracket holes about 1/8 inch in order to allow the box to be slightly shifted.
The good part was I was able to modify the brackets and didn't have to make new ones. The bad part is the more items that get installed into the airplane the more difficult it is to make changes and modifications. I had to get creative in drilling the bottom angle holes using a pancake drill that my friend Gary gave me a long time ago. It still was a challenge but I pulled it off. The transponder was the problem and was running inteferrence.
