I continued with the mount by riveting all the parts together. I then worked on getting the spacing down for the outboard attachment brackets by using spacers. About 5/16 inches gave me a nice even clearance gap between the antenna and the canopy tubing.
Using that dimension I cut and fashioned some feet for the front and the back of area of the outboard side of the mount. Using some pieces of scrap .040 aluminum I cut pieces and fashioned the feet. Once again there are a lot of compound angles and radii due to the sloping of the turtledeck so I got the basic form bent and then had to "tweak" the feet in order to get them both sitting right. When they got to where all was sitting well I drilled and riveted the feet on the mount.
In the photos below I used a piece of cardboard that simulated 1/8 inch higher than the actual antenna...great clearance.
Photo #2 makes the mount look like it is on the side of the airplane but that is due to the camera angle not the mount itself.
