Brief Description:  Rear Throttle Quadrant #7

Went down to the shop tonight and worked on the rear throttle quadrant again. Really I am done with my goal of getting the panel fitted in place so I can paint it and and the other console panels and instrument panel so they can be installed for the wiring.

So that goal has been met but I also wanted to get the messy work of getting the slot for the throttle lever completed also. So I tackled the slot tonight.

I decided that using some scrap Lowes Aircraft Supply steel that I had laying around would make a good template. So I cut a piece and put a slot in the steel. I drilled a 3/16 hole in each end of the slot to establish the radius' on each end. I then laid it in place and clamped it.

Using the cutoff blade on my Dremmel I ran the blade along the two sides of the slot in the steel as a guide. Worked out well! I spent time getting it all deburred. I then cut the nylon guides to length and marked the holes.

The throttle lever provided is plenty long and I plan on customizing it in order to make it readily available but not "in the way" of the GIB. The knob Vans provides is a cheap wooden knob...I probably will whip up a custom knob out of aluminum.
