Brief Description:  GTR20 Remote Comm Brackets

After deciding where the best location for the GTR 20 Remote Comm radio would be mounted I began working up a design for mounting brackets. The good thing about the box is that it only has the antenna cable and the D-sub to attach. There is no tray for this just the box that hard mounts to the airframe.

I used 3/4 angle and hung the back mounting brackets off the long structural support that spans the width of the airframe on the baggage compartment wall. I laid the horizontal portion of the mounting bracket on the other support that spans the width of the airframe that sits just a little in front of the instrument panel.

I have been using a combination of rivets and screws/nuts for securing the brackets. I am riveting where it needs to be a flush surface and making certain that the rivets will be accessible to be removed in the future. The rails are riveted in and nutplates attached for the box attachment. I will wait to do the final attachment of the front angles until I have designed and completed the transponder mount.
