Brief Description:  Electrical compartment mounting panel #5

With all the components located on the panel and nutplates installed for the electrical items, I worked on getting the panel located and installed into the airplane. I measured and calculated locations for five nutplates along the firewall angle that also acts as the baggage floor support. The baggage floor doesn't cover this area but I am going to make a floor to cover and protect electrical bay from items falling into and creating havoc in the compartment.

Having calculated the nutplate spacing I once again turned to poster board to make spacers to mark the hole locations since it is too cramped and difficult to get in the area with scale and mark the locations.

I take posterboard and lay my combination square scale on the PB and cut along both sides of the ruler....this gives me a nice parallel piece of cardboard. Then I use the square to cut the PB to length that I need. I lay the PB on the angle and after marking the first line with my .600 piece I lay the 1.400 piece on the line and mark the rest of the hole locations.....makes it a lot easier.

Four holes were countersunk and one will act as a dual purpose screw that will hold the mount and also hold the panel that I am going to make for the lid. I drilled and installed all the locations. I prepped and installed nutplates on the mount and countersunk the angle.

I then drilled the holes for the bottom of the mount for two AN3 bolts to secure the bottom through the firewall and inserted nutplates on the mount.
