Brief Description:  Mount for Voltage Regulators #2

I had the mount material ready and marked in (hopefully) the right locations. Using the little hardwood bending brake I made some time ago and have used quite a bit to form parts, I began to bend the mount into shape. It took a while to get it like I wanted it but I finally got it formed.

I then set it in the electrical bay and cleco clamped it in place. I added a support in the middle for strength and stability of the mount. I match drilled the locations that I had drilled in the mount to the baggage wall. I then opened up all the holes in the wall and then in the mount. I made the center support bending a piece of .060 aluminum and put it in place, clecoed the mount back into the bay and drilled the hole in the support.

Next I installed the nutplates after drilling the rivet holes. When I drilled the mount holes I only realized after drilling them that the K1000-3 nutplates would not work because the outside holes were too close to the edge. Ok....change to single lug nutplates and badda bing...problem solved. That's how it goes in the E/AB process.

I located the regulator holes on the mount and drilled them. Had to slot the center holes for easier access to getting the bolts past the center support....worked great! I used 1/4 bolts and mounted the regulators. It sure is amazing how much time it takes to build a "simple" mount.
