Brief Description:  Oil Cooler Install #2

I started by deciding what material I was going to use to make the support. I decided to use 1/8 x 3/4 aluminum angle for everything except the rear angle. I wanted something a little wider to move it away from the firewall for easier installation and removal. For the rear angle I used a 1 x 1-1/4 aluminum angle.

I cut a couple of overly long pieces and drilled the holes on each one for hhe mounting bolts and installed the bolts on the two outside holes on each angle along with the plenum. Then it was a lot of holding the angle up against the firewall in different positions to try and get an idea on where to mount and what angle would be the best. I wanted to be certain that the hose would be able to be unrestricted to go on the plenum but if tipped up at too much of an angle it would interfere with the arm for the butterfly movement. I was also looking for structural parts to attach to behind the firewall because I didn't want to add doublers. I finally decided on the pivot point for the left rear angle attachment (looking toward the firewall) and drilled the hole that started locking in the position.

NOTE: I STARTED DRILLING WITH A #40 DRILL, A #30 DRILL, THEN A #12 DRILL. Without drilling the smaller hole the drill wants to walk and of course the stainless steel firewall is harder to drill through. The smaller drill goes through a lot easier as does the subsequent ones.

Will have to do more cypherin for the other side next session.
