Brief Description: Mark canopy frame for holes / make jig
I had placed the canopy on the fuselage after getting the bonding completed.
Next task was getting the centerline of the tubes marked for drilling the rivet holes for the skirts. In looking at the skirts and frame I determined that the frame needed to be drilled at a slight angle in order to have the rivets as close to perpendicular as possible to the skirts.
After marking the centerlines I decided to make a jig to space all the holes.
The holes call for two inch spacing so I made a jig that would use a cleco to space the holes. This session involved marking the frame and making the jig. I had bought some scrap lengths of 4130 tubing from Wicks aircraft supply just to “have around” as it is $10 for a ten pound box…..I bought two boxes. In those boxes I have been able to dig through the assorted pieces and use them for different little fixtures etc. Well that is what I used to make this little fixture. We will see how it works in the next session.
