Brief Description:  Mid Cabin Storage Cubby #3

My friend Rob said that packing tape is the greatest mold release agant if you can put it on the mold. The mold is fairly geometric....so I gave it a try and was even able to successfully get the fuel line clearance notch done relatively smoothly.....either way I am not overly concerned with the finish of the notch....only that it sufficiently clears the fuel line. Most of the cubby will be hidded and I am trying to build some fiberglass skills while building this cubby for storage.

I then set the mold on a board in order to make a fillet around what would be the top of the part. I laid down some wax paper to prevent the fiberglass from sticking to the board. I put four finish nails in from the back of the board and pressed the foam mold on them to keep the mold in place. Next I mixed up a batch of dry micro and build a fillet around the mold to transition the fiberglass from the mold to the board to make what will be the attachment flange on top. Fiberglass doesn't like sharp corners so the transition is necessary. I will sand the fillet smooth next session.

I have about a half dozen small paint drips from painting all the panels. Rather than trying to repaint them I am experimenting on removing the drips and polishing the surface. I bought a small paint drip shaver and will try the process. I worked on the left console piece tonight and it is coming along good....not done yet.
