Brief Description:  Fiberglass work on elevator and HS

I began the long process of sanding the elevator and laying some micro on the HS to get it ready to work. The process is the same throughout. Lay down some "Micro" which is an epoxy fiberglass filler that is very tiny glass baloons (thus the term "micro") that appears to be more of a powder than a granule. These are mixed in with epoxy resin to form a slurry paste that fills in gaps or irregularties in the fiberglass work. When it dries one is to be able to then shape the final product and finish of the fairings by wet sanding the form to the contour desired.

The rivet holes get filled and the gaps get filled in order to make it all look pretty and give the fairings good form to reduce drag. After the micro cures the sanding process begins using course to fine sandpaper and wet sanding it smooth. The process is tedious but it's just another element of the E/AB experience.
