Brief Description:  Begin Repair on Left Elevator and HS end caps

Today I started by running around and getting some things done since I will be on the road for the next two weeks for work.....no work will be done!

When I got caught up and prior to Rick coming for another help session, I began drilling what must have been close to a trillion rivets to remove the skin from the left elevator. I was able to go a good job with getting all the rivets drilled out and the elevator "skeleton" is in great shape...there was no damage. I will be able to use those parts over again and pretty much order the skin, some rivets, and perhaps a few other misc items. I am thankful for that.

Rick got over the house and taught me the fine art of cutting foam to finish off the end cap opening. We were able to rough in the right elevator endcap and finish most of the left elevator end cap...which had to wait for the epoxy micro to harden. So that was all we could do for the day so our work session ended. Rick explained the next steps. I have learned a wealth of information in the last two days and have gotten a little further down the road to completion. Once again....thanks Rick!

We also came to a point where we could not dimple the rear holes in the elevators due to an the lack of room to get the dimpler inside. I ultimately decided to sacrifice my #4 dimple dies and a pair of vise grips to make a dimple tool. I turned down the dies and welded them to a pair of vise grips. They worked in allowing us to dimple the holes quickly and easily. I order new #4 dimple dies immediatly.

Another good work day in the shop....and a good two days of progress (mostly) haha.
