I decided it was time to install the center section bolts that are required for the -8 conversion. The QB has the ablility to be used for the -8 or the -8A tricycle gear version. Unfortunately, it is my version the tailwheel -8 that requires that the 12 bolts be installed and torqued.
Vans actually issued a Service Bulliten on inspecting that the bolts were installed because they found some builders failed to install them.....the bolts are very important and necessary. Since there was no reason to put it off I decided to tackle the job.
The bolts were very difficult to install given the lack of space to access the nuts and bolts in the center section. It was an ardous task to get my fingers in the locations to install and tighten the bolts. I removed the Cap Covers F-804NPP in order to get better access.....it helped some but was still a slow task.
