Another weekend away from the ranch to see grandchildren Giovanna and Rudy. We had a blast taking them to the local kiddy pool. It is a massive pool that is only about a foot deep at its deepest part. At ages 2.5 and 1.5....it really can take a toll on grandma and grandpa. We are worn out by the end of the day.....but it is a sweet weariness!
So after returning home late Sunday afternoon I went down to the shop and put some time in on the project. I removed the side mount angle from the longeron. Deburred and installed the nutplates. I found that the body of the nutplates were riding a little on the inside radius of the mounting angle so I went out to the shop and milled flats where the nutplates were. That was after I installed one and saw the problem so it involved removing one nutplate. After drilling the holes for the rivets I attached all four of them with #10 screws but I will be installing the mount permanently with AN3-5A bolts and washers for the final installation. Screws have too much a tendency to strip the head too easily. Very pleased with the way it is going....but it sure is taking a long time!
