Brief Description:  DFW-Novak's RV-8 Aircraft Manufacturing Facility

So I use to go out to DFW every quarter to fly airplanes for my job. I would frequent Novak's RV-8 Aircraft Manufacturing Facility in the evenings while working to assist Jim with his RV-8 project.

Now I rarely go out there due to a change in my position. A trip came up for me to go on a Team meeting for work. I mentioned to Jim and he said to consider coming out the weekend prior to my meeting on Tuesday to do some building. Well long story short....after speaking to my work boss, and my house boss (spell that wife) both gave their thumbs up...I have a great boss and a super fantastic wife!! In addition there is the drill o filling out a convolutedf travel paperwork....but finally got the paperwork correct and approved.

So Friday I jumped on a flight to DFW wher the chauffer James picked me up and drove me to Chez Novak. Our goal was to complete the two man job of riveting the turtledeck on the airplane. Jim and I over the years have developed a good process and flow to driving and bucking rivets as a team. Though it's been quite a long time since we have done so....but we picked up the rythem very quickly. Before you know it the couple hundred or so rivets wer all set!

He also voluntold me that I was going to be on a wing hanging team...hey why not always like helping and meeting other builders. We had a half dozen folks there and the process went well allowing another builder to get closer to completion.

Next Jim decided to tackle the forward baggage door. Read his log for the details, suffice it to say that it took some finessing to complete it.....I would be very happy with mine to come out as good as his did.

Jim went back to work Monday....and I was required to take leave. Jim let me drive him to work and use his car for the day. So it was off to run a couple errands and mingle with folks like Walt Arnow and Doug Reeves at 52F....great bunch of guys there.

It was a great weekend prior to a week of intense at time Team meeting. I was able to stay in the penthouse guest room at
