Brief Description:  Instrument Panel Access Door & Rudder Cables

I have been wanting to tackle the instrument panel access panel on the rear panel of the front door baggage compartment. I made this in order to gain additional access to the future avionics that will be installed when the time comes. I need to prime and paint the pieces, so I started with finishing a little deburring of holes then scuffing in prep for priming. The photo shows the foward baggage floor scuffed and ready also.

Then I sat for a while and figured out which rivets I needed to assemble the door pieces as well as attach the panel back to the fuselage. It appears I have all the right size rivets to do the job albiet having to change the bottom half of the hinge by opening up the holes to accept AN470AD-4-4 rivets. I was planning to use AN470AD-3-4 rivets but found none in the kit hardware and don't want to order 30 cents of rivets and pay several dollars to ship them...so I will just open the holes up for the larger rivets.

Next I decided to install the clamps on the rudder cable nylon guides. Adel clamps can be a pain, but vans uses the aluminum ones which are easier to manipulate to get the holes aligned and the screws attached. A long time ago another builder Rick suggested I get stainless steel hi-torx screws for replacing the cad plated ones. Photo 3 is blurry but that is the stainless steel torx screw on the upper left side of the cable fairing......love the torx!
