The instructions calls for attaching the elevators and finding the spacers that are needed for the gap between the left and right elevator and the bearing block in the center. I used calipers and toyed around with getting the measurement right for the spacers. After getting the washer thicknesses locked down I was am ready to attach the elevators to each other.
The left elevator required .135 of washer thickness and the right side required .184. I got it real close. I bought a 1/2" stainless steel bolt and I am going to use the lathe to make a single washer the proper size for each side of the elevator, that way I won't have a bunch of washers but only one on each side.
