So my last item on the agenda was to mount the elevator trim servo on the elevator access plate. It was a straight forward process. I manufactured and riveted the "z" brackets to the access plate. It all went together well.....UNTIL I TRIED TO PUT THE ASSEMBLY INTO THE ELEVATOR. It didn't fit.....something was hitting the front side of the access panel opening. Well long story short, I ended up mis-marking the "z" bracket position. The distance from the forward edge was to be 3/8 of an inch and I mistakenly marked it at 1/4 inch. I thought of several ways to put in a "fix" but felt that I just needed to make a new plate. So I took a piece of alum stock and made another access plate....presto....looks like factory made and fit perfectly!
Since I had the extra metal it was cheaper and faster to make one than order one!
THE EMPENNAGE IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETE (sans fiberglass work)
