Brief Description:  RV Building in Dallas

I had to travel to DFW this week for work. My build buddy Jim lives in the area. It is really great because I don't have to go to the hotel and vegetate in front of a TV all night......I get to help him build HIS RV-8......that way I get my vicarious build fix!

Jim has really been making progress on his project. He has his empennage completed and had been working on his wings. I offered to help him a number of months ago an have been able to be his assistant when I travel there every quarter for my work. It has been nice to be able to help. I have quik build wings which means that the wings are mostly complete with little work to be done for them to be totally complete.

Last quarter we got a rough draft of the kind of wing stand we wanted to make. We used Vans blueprint for the basic requirements and then looked at some blog posts and came up with the design seen in the photos below. We were able to rivet the ribs and though not shown we match drilled all the top wing skins and got the bottom skins ready for matchdrilling. All in all we got a good amount of work done.....and it was a great time of working on Jims dream flying machine!
