Brief Description:  Installed round guages, work on radio stack

After checking re-stocking charges, freight etc, decided to cut up the nut rings and use parts of them to secure the a/s and altimeter. Used a cutoff wheel on the dremel and then a small sanding drum to get the “partial” nut rings to fit, worked ok—just took way more time than I had expected (everything about this build takes more time!). I mounted the instruments in the panel and clecoed the panel into the fuse. Fit and clearance looks good. I decided that the screws that came with the nut rings were too long, so I removed them and cut them off with the dremel. When I added the instrument panel along with the radio stack brackets, I noticed the aft brace was not aligned vertically with the cross brace between the gear legs. I removed the bracket, trimmed away part of the flange and put a slight bend in it—now everything lines up much better. I removed the radio stack to attach the wiring harnesses. I needed to add a coax connector in the back of the ICOM tray. Looked pretty simple-connector goes in from the outside, a washer and snap ring go inside to keep it in place. Well, looks are deceiving—I found it very difficult to reach thru the tray with snap ring pliers. Probabaly spent an hour or more fiddling with the stupid arrangement before I got it in place. Ugg! Next, I assembled the connectors to the back of the mounting trays. Almost ready to install the stack and begin connecting the zillion wires.
