Shaped the handle on the band sander today. Finally got a contour I can live with--then sanded with 120 grit sandpaper followed by 150 grit. I haven’t decided on whether I’ll polish the handle or have it painted when the bird finally goes to the painter. Installed the handle with a set screw and checked operation—it works! I used a very fine sanding sponge on the skirts—primer feels very smooth now. At this point, I’m calling the canopy, skirts and latch assembly FINISHED! Well, at least until I find something that I think I can improve a little more.
