Cut the set screw down so that it fits flush with the end of the outside handle. Earlier, I added some SuperFil to the built up transition around the latch stem hole. Sanded it smooth and shot with sanding primer. After it dried, I sanded lightly and shot the entire skirt with a couple coats of NAPA primer. Also, I have been shaping the outside handle on the band sander. It is really slow going-- even with welding gloves on, the block of aluminum heats up pretty fast. The handle will require a bit more sanding to get it to a streamlined shape.
