Brief Description:  Right skirt-worked top gap

The top lip of the skirts have a few gaps where it should contact the canopy. Most of these areas are slight and can be easily pushed down against the canopy. However, pretty sure I can’t find a volunteer to hold the lip against the canopy while the sika cures. Also, I haven’t figured out a clamping method to apply pressure to skirt lips. I have 3 clecoes on each side that I used initially to locate the canopy back in the same position when I was first fitting the canopy. I previously had drilled these same holes in the skirts once I had them in their final location. Along the areas where clecoed, there is no gap. I considered adding another 2 or 3 clecoes on each side, but really don’t want to drill any more holes in the plexi. I decided to give the heat gun another chance. Some of the builders have had success with relaxing the glass and closing the upper gap while the skirt was clecoed to the frame. I was hesitant to heat the area and possibly the plexi behind it, so I removed the skirt and heated an 8” area that had the largest gap while pushing down on the lip with a board. Installed the skirt—the method did help close the gap, so tomorrow I will work some of the other areas. I also added a resin/flox fillet for one of the down tubes on the frame. Really thought I had done all 6 fillets earlier (the fiberglass fairy must have removed one of the fillets while I slept)!
