I clecoed the forward top skin back onto the fuselage. Closed the canopy and each skirt needs about a 1/16” trim to match up with the top skin. I ran a vertical tape line on each side leaving the area to be trimmed exposed. Sanded each side—checked fit—looks good. While the canopy was closed, I marked to trim the bottom edge in a line that is even with the overlap of the rear deck skin and the overlap of the top front skin. Removed the skirts and ran a line of tape where I wanted the bottom edge to end up. Cut the excess off with the dremel, then sanded to the tape line. On the left side, I left approx. 1/8” to sand. It took a fair amount of time sanding to get up to the tape line. On the right skirt, I left about 1/16” to sand. Should have done this on the first side, but wasn’t sure how steady I might be with the dremel. Clecoed both skirts back to the frame. Right side fits quite well along the bottom edge. The left side, where I had significant gaps seemed to fit much better—however, I just realized that the canopy is no longer blocked open 1/8”. Will have to check on this some more, but maybe removing the excess overhang has helped the gap issue.
