Brief Description:  Canoopy frame-1

Tonight, I regrouped and began again on the canopy frame. I started by setting the width of the rails per the plans. This time I made an alignment mark on each end of each rail, so I could determine at a glance where the rails sit or are supposed to sit. Taped them both in to position then clamped near the forward end. Next, I stretched the front bow apart slightly—well, pulled it quite a distance to make about ½” change in width—then worked on the aft end to get it down to 5/8” clearance. The front bow is still a problem. With the rollers just touching the roll bar foot, there is a fairly even clearance around the canopy bow and the frame. However, in looking from the front of the plane, it is obvious that the bow appears higher on the right (left side of the aircraft), than the opposite side. I am going to have to get some advice from VAF experts or Van’s on what I should do to correct this issue. Also, ordered a new slide block today--just not satisfied with fit of the current one.
