Brief Description:  Rear canopy slide-4

Fit the 804/805 assembly to the rear deck. Adjusted length so that the taper on the forward end laid flat inside the canopy receptacle. Looking thru the #27 holes, I lined it up until it matched the line previously drawn down the center--taped the assembly to the deck with duct tape. I match drilled thru the rear most hole assembly and rear deck. I climbed into the tunnel and installed a nut and washer while Nancy tightened the screw. I checked alignment once again, then drilled a hole just before where the rail bends into the receptacle. Added a screw and nut to that location--then drilled the remaining holes. The screw hole down in the receptacle is a bit of a challenge. Plans show to drill in assembly from the bottom. I had previously drilled the hole in the rail to 1/8”. I used a short stub threaded bit inserted thru the hole and spun the bit by hand—for about 10 minutes! Removed the rail and deburred the bottom of the rail and both sides of the skin. My stub bit made a good impression in the receptacle—enough of an impression that I was able to use a 1/16” bit and drill a hole in the receptacle from the top. I screwed the rail back to the skin, crawled into the tunnel and drilled the hole up to 1/8”. Alignment with the rail looked good, so I drilled it to #30, and finally to #27. Removed the rail again and countersunk the hole. Deburred the holes and re-installed the rail. Tightened up all the screws and installed the slide block—works smoothly. Next up is the side rails.
